New & Emerging Leaders

Leadership training for new and emerging leaders. As an engineer who believes our industry is as strong as our people and who is keenly aware of risks and problems before they arrive, I spent my career getting ahead of problems, and minimizing how many of them appeared. I look at leadership in the same way. If your leaders are strong, your problems are reduced, and your leaders are stronger to handle the ones that do arise.

I provide tools and understanding to create strong leaders, designed to cover current challenges such as:

- Retention, of those in early and midcareer

- Engagement and commitment

- On-boarding the young generation

- Decreased effectiveness of communication

18-years of experience in civil engineering blended with high level leadership experience and training, have led to shaping up unique solutions of business consultancy.  This encompasses the four points below:

*that the mind, like the body needs exercise. This can reduce distraction, increase creativity, and make people more at-the-ready to solve complex problems .

*that we need to abandon the “carrot and stick” method of motivation, and replace it with motivation that is intrinsic, and fuels passion and engagement.

*that we need to learn how to engage and inspire high commitment with those new to the industry

* that training in the ways of effective communication and strong relationships will improve efficiency, increase confidence and make problems go-away.

What I offer:

6 in-person or virtual seminars over 10-weeks

2 hour workshops

Working Parents

Tools and understanding for the well-being of working-parents. The seminars are designed to simultaneously give rise to vigour at work (and beyond), leadership skills, easement within oneself, and to raise children of strong character. Your industry is as strong as your people. Our society is as strong as our community and families.

6 in-person or virtual seminars over 10-weeks

*Includes before and after measureables of participants well-being*

How both roles of working-parents function as leadership and the reasons both parenting and leadership ought to shift core attitudes and approach.

We’ll learn about a model of 5-intelligences, which serves as a tool and understanding to link your child and their development, human interactions at work, and between you and yourself, and allowing all 3 to be strengthened.  We’ll discuss how all 3 are naturally motivated and how working in one area strengthens the others.

Sessions 3, 4, 5 and 6 are practical sessions covering challenges of working-parents in both their roles, such as:

- Making agreements.

- Juggling priorities with a sense of easement.

- Leading others:  Staying curious longer, Persuasion, Decision-making

- Re-wiring how we think about “problems” so they’re less draining. (We are not one thing)

One fact about working as a Professional  is it requires individuals to be sharp and have capacity in the mind, to solve new problems, to focus, to keep things simple, to adapt to changing priorities, to name a few. Another fact is that family-life and work-life has blended more than ever, creating challenges related to stress and engagement, particularly for parents. Many companies help parents manage stress by offering flex-time, or personal days, which is helpful but is a temporary fix to the problem as it doesn’t reduce the mental burden. In other words, we need to think about work-life balance in a new way.

These workshops are designed to give parents tools and understanding to be confident and strong at work and at home and cover things like, unburdening the to-do lists, making agreements, how to think about problems, motivation, to name a few.
